      Hi Bethany,

      The particle that makes up ‘dark matter’ hasn’t been discovered, but is very likely to exist! This is because we are able to see how galaxies rotate, and from this we think that there should be a load of stuff in the galaxies that we can’t see, which is effecting the galaxy rotation. Scientists have called this stuff ‘dark matter’, because we can’t see it. However, various experiments around the globe are working on trying to find out what that particle is! Some people think the particle may be a completely new one that we haven’t heard of before!
