I tend to work Monday to Friday 9-5, however often in science I am expected to work late or even on weekends to fit in experiments!

      Hello H&F:

There aren’t set hours, though I’m contracted to 38 hours a week. When and where I work is very flexible, this is because I’m not involved in teaching this semester. I try and finish work by 7pm when I’m working from home, if on campus I try and leave by 4pm because the travel back to London from Coventry is over 2 hours. I often work weekends – love my work so this is not a problem, but I do make sure I take time off and enjoy my ‘free time’.

Being a practisising scientist does come with flexible working hours 🙂

      Hi H & F,

I work Monday to Friday from about 9:00-6pm, but may have to work later/earlier depending on how much I have to get done! This can also involve having to work at the weekends, in order to get particular results!

      Peter
