It really important to make sure scientific experiments are fair and reliable. Otherwise we cannot trust our results.
In order to make sure my observations are fair and reliable I do a few things…
1) Always record the date, time and weather conditions when I am doing field work
2) I catch each bee that I record and mark its wings with a special pen before I release it. Then I know if I catch the same bee twice.
3) Always follow the next bee that I hear…not see, so that I am not choosing the nicer looking bees more.

But isn’t that discrimination against quieter bees?
