• Question: Are bees harmful? If they are not why do humans believe they are?

      Bees are not really harmful. They can sting but they only do this when they feel really threatened, in the same way that a dog might bite you if you threatened it.
      Lots of people are scared of because they don’t understand this and they think the bees are trying to hurt them. What they don’t realise is that stinging someone is the last thing a bee wants to do because it will die afterwards. If there is a bee near you you just have to stay still and calm. If you start flapping about and trying to get rid of it it might think you are trying to hurt it. I spend a lot of time with bees so i am very calm with them. I can even pick them up and they never sting me.
      Its is common for people to be afraid of things they dont know much about. This is true of many insects but we are lucky because we live in a country where there are no really dangerous ones.
