      Hello Abbigail:

My aim is to collaborate with international teams to build natural language in social robotics. I really feel a major challenge of artificial intelligence remains as Alan Turing saw it, building machines to answer any question in a satisfactory manner (Turing test) – that is, using natural language.

I’m preparing /writing grant proposals so I can recruit a diverse-skilled team that includes artists, linguists, translators, archaeologists, historians, psychologists, sociologists working alongside engineers, biologists, physicists, computer scientists and roboticists. The purpose of such a team would be to create multi-lingual robots that serve to advance an understanding of human languages (such as how humans create metaphors and how we create analogies), as well as robots that learn to talk like humans. We need conversational robots where their use is in human-robot interaction.

Do ask your teacher to get in touch if you would like to be part of future Turing test experiments.

Have a good rest of your school term and a wonderful Christmas/winter break 🙂

      Huma
